Stepping off the small plane into the vast expanse of Kafue, the sheer size of this park is overwhelming. As Zambia’s oldest and largest national park, Kafue is often overshadowed by the more famous South Luangwa. Despite having only a few camps and even fewer visitors, the park rewards those who visit with breathtaking sights. Picture cheetahs and lions prowling the golden grass, and herds of red lechwe, puku, and wildebeest across the Busanga Plains. Beyond Busanga, the turquoise Kafue River winds through a stunning landscape of miombo woodlands and seasonal lagoons, offering excellent opportunities to spot elephants, sable antelope, leopards, and even wild dogs.
